This psychological thriller, based on Stephen King’s novel, follows romance novelist Paul Sheldon after he is rescued from a car crash and held captive by Annie Wilkes, his self-described “number one fan.” When Annie discovers that Paul has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain, she forces him to write a new novel and makes clear that she has no intention of letting him go.
