Part of Music City Mondays, Barrio Triste is STILLZ’s feature directorial debut. The found-footage film follows four teenagers in a marginalized neighborhood of Medellín, Colombia, likely in the early 1990s. After stealing a camera from a local television news crew, they record their violent antics across the city’s streets, hills and raw-brick homes. The film’s soundtrack was composed specifically for the project by ARCA. Its story gradually explores the loneliness underlying the teenagers’ cruelty.
