Discovery Design Time is a weekly Thursday program featuring hands-on art, science and engineering activities with a new theme each session. This session, “Monsters in the Museum,” explores kinetic motion and Newton’s third law as participants build a rubber band-powered dancing monster from bottle caps and a paper cup. They can test, adjust and troubleshoot their designs before decorating them with features such as horns, eyeballs and stripes. The activity introduces concepts including elasticity, rolling motion, kinetic energy, design and engineering.
