This talk examines World War I in Ottoman lands and its long-term impact on the modern Middle East. Andrew Patrick, a Tennessee State University history professor and scholar of American engagement with the Ottoman Empire, will discuss the conflict’s origins, its differences from fighting on the Western Front, and the effects of warfare, ethnic cleansing, famine, and colonial rule in the region. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the talk starts at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Tickets at the door are $17, or $15 with a student ID.
