The Marc Payne Quartet presents music led by Nashville pianist Marc Payne. Payne began playing at age 11, studied gospel, and developed a serious interest in jazz piano while attending Pearl-Cohn High School and the Nashville School for the Arts, graduating in 2017. His influences include Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Sonny Clark, Thelonious Monk, Hank Jones, and James P. Johnson. Payne has shared the stage with Bobby Watson, Regi Wooten, Curtis Lundy, Roy Wooten, and Duffy Jackson, and has performed at venues including Rudy’s Jazz Room, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
