This exhibition presents 30 works from Marlene and Spencer Hays’s collection of French art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It focuses on the Nabis, a group of symbolist painters that included Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, and Édouard Vuillard, alongside works by artists including Edgar Degas, Berthe Morisot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Matisse, and Odilon Redon. The selection explores private encounters, portrayals of women, and the spirituality of nature. The collection was built over more than 40 years and has not previously been shown publicly elsewhere in the United States.
