About this event
Impilo Mapantsula and American choreographer Jeremy Nedd present The Ecstatic, a performance juxtaposing the rapid footwork of South African Pantsula street dance with Pentecostal praise breaks. The work explores the relationship between these forms and Pantsula’s broader culture of language, music, fashion and movement. The Johannesburg-based company’s six members make their U.S. debut. The program also includes a free Pantsula dance workshop with a warm-up, an introduction to the dance form and a choreographic exercise. All ages and experience levels are welcome. Artist and creative community tickets are $20–$25.
