This exhibition examines Jean-Michel Basquiat’s engagement with printmaking as a central part of his practice and a site of innovation and collaboration. Nearly 50 works explore his ideas about appropriation, identity, and reproduction, as well as his connections to artists including Leonardo da Vinci, Robert Rauschenberg, and pioneering Black printmaker Bob Blackburn. The exhibition reframes Basquiat’s work within postmodern artistic networks and a broader history of Black experimentation and intergenerational exchange in reproductive media. It is organized by the Princeton University Art Museum and curated by Jordana Moore Saggese.
