This beginner-level, approximately 3.5-hour class with instructor Kim Wienzierl introduces machine quilting through the creation of a quilted hot pad. Topics include practice stitches, sewing and rotary cutting, fabric selection, sewing machine safety and operation, machine quilting, and hand-sewn quilt binding. Participants may finish the project in class or take it home with instructor assistance available through a phone meeting. The Forge provides the instruction book, pattern, fabric, batting, thread, sewing machine, notions, tools, and other materials. Enrollment closes three days before class, and late enrollment requires approval. The class has a minimum enrollment requirement and may be rescheduled or canceled if that minimum is not met. Enrollments are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
